Saturday started with an untimed, non-competitive practice lap to splash out some of the puddles as we had clear skies but a wet track. It was a fun way to start the day and gave our novices a little confidence they wouldn’t get lost later. After our 5 competition runs, Top Time of the Day went to Maggie Elorza in a BMW M235i x-Drive, who was the only driver to get into the 48 second bracket. PAX went to Blake DeWit in a Honda Accord. Class winners included Maggie for Street, Garret Murphy for Touring in a 300ZX, Brian Berry for Modified in the fabulous Ford Focus SVT, and the fastest Novice was 16 year old Caitlyn Singler in a Subaru BRZ.
Sunday we had a dry track, sunny weather, and a full house, so we kept it to 4 competition runs. Rick Dunbar was super fast in the Suzuki Special, scoring the only 44 second time and Top Time of Day. PAX was a close battle with Blake earning the top spot, followed by Keith Smith and Maggie, both just over a tenth of a second behind Blake. Class winners were Blake for Street, Andrew Barbitta in a Subaru WRX STI for Touring, Tim Hasick in a Dodge Viper for Prepared, and the fastest Novice was Frank Lewis in a Miata.
We have one more pre-season weekend coming up on March 13th & 14th, rain or shine. Registration will be open on MSR soon, and our full season calendar will be available in the coming weeks.
