July Race Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

We had a great turn out for race #7 in the Shasta AutoX Challenge Series.  The course was a long one which gave everyone some great seat time, and we had both the Portacool and the A/C running to try to beat the heat.  Top time of the day went to ‘Fast’ Larry Nelson in the Brunton Stalker Super, the only racer to break 70 seconds.  Our PAX winner was Andrew Barbitta in a Tesla Model 3 Performance.  Andrew brought along several new racers and we hope everyone can make it to our next event August 22nd.

Class winners included Andrew for Street, Troy Dewell in a Miata for Prepared, Heinz Simoneit in a CIVIC Si for Touring, Mike Huber in a Mini for Street Prepared, and our fastest Novice was Dane Taylor in a M235i

Thunderhill Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The Northbay Bay Corvette Association put on a great event at Thunderhill, and we had a decent turnout though we were hoping to see more of you there.  It was definitely a Corvette course – wide and fast, which gave our racers lots of options on how to find the fastest way around.

Saturday, it was Jeremy McNeely who had the fastest time for TTC, finishing a scant 0.004 ahead of Troy Dewell (there were just a couple of Corvettes faster than these two guys all weekend).  Keith Smith crushed it in the CAM-T Camaro and earned the PAX win.  Sunday, Troy managed to keep it off of the cones and scored a sweep, earning both Top Time and PAX in his DP Miata.  Congrats to the winners!

We are 1/2 way through the points season, race 7 of 12 is coming up July 18th.  We hope you are planning to join us in the 2nd half of the year!

We had a blustery but sunny weekend of autocross racing at the Shasta Speedway, with Boris Podtetenieff in his Tesla Model 3 Performance and Troy Dewell in his DP Miata battling it out for top honors both days.  Boris was able to fend off the challenge and scored a double double, winning Top Time and PAX for both days, with Troy in second.  The margin of victory on Saturday was a mere 0.059, and Sunday was 0.223 – it was an exciting battle!

Class winners are determined by their PAX finish, and we group PAX classes together as follows:  Street, Touring, Street Modified, Prepared, Modified, CAM, Novice – there must be at least 3 competitors in the group to have a winner.  Saturday, it was Boris for Prepared and Heinz Simoneit in a CIVIC SI for Touring, no other PAX group had the minimum number of racers.  Sunday, Boris and Heinz repeated their class wins, and the fastest Novice was Kevin Van De Mark in a Mustang GT.

Our next event is at Thunderhill June 5th and 6th.  The event is run by the Northbay Corvette Club and sign ups are done on MSR – sign up now!

Registration Open for May 8th & 9th + Rules Reminders

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The Shasta AutoX Challenge Series continues with rounds 3 & 4 Saturday and Sunday, May 8th and 9th (rain or shine).  Plan to join us and register online today!
Register online at MSR:

Saturday the 8th – msreg.com/ttc2021r3
Sunday the 9th – msreg.com/ttc2021r4

*** Rules Reminders ***

Novices:  Competitors can race as a Novice twice in our club, then must move to their car class.  As a Novice, you can ride with other racers before your race runs.  Once you’ve moved into a car class, you may no longer ride with others prior to racing.
Minors:  Any minor who is a participant or a rider must have a Minor Participation waiver completed at the registration table and witnessed by a TTC official.  Riders must be 12 years of age.  Minor competitors must have the legal right to drive on the street – if the competitor has a permit but no license, they must have an adult licensed driver ride with them (preferably their parent).
DNFs:  A ‘Did Not Finish’ penalty is most often incurred when you leave the course and do not reenter in the same spot, or if you miss the start or finish line.  There is no re-run for a DNF, and if you DNF for all of your runs, you do not get a time.  Be sure you are walking the course before the race, reviewing the map, and asking questions.  We hate DNFs and will do all we can to help you, but ultimately it is on the competitor to be able to complete the course.
Driver Swaps:  All drivers must be registered for the event.  If you have one car and two drivers, each driver must register independently as a competitor, pay the entry fee, complete the waivers, attend the Driver’s Meeting, etc.  It is against the rules to swap drivers during a run group so that your passenger can give it a go – you will be disqualified.
Fun Runs:  We often allow Fun Runs following the timed competition.  Only registered racers are eligible for Fun Runs.  We want everyone who races on the track to have attended our Driver’s Safety meeting and to have paid the entry fee for the event.
Payments:  Credit card charges are submitted the Monday following the event.  If the payment information you provided during registration is invalid, you will be notified by MSR to correct the payment method online.  This most often happens due to a change in address or a disused credit card that was saved as part of your MSR profile, and is not a big deal – it happens!  But you must correct the issue and be in good standing to register for future events with TTC.  If you need to arrange an alternate payment method, please let me know!
Any questions on these items or anything else, just reach out!

Season Opener – Race Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The Shasta AutoX Challenge Series kicked off with two days of racing at the Shasta Speedway this past weekend.  Results are posted to https://trinitytouringclub.com/race-results/

Saturday, Boris Podtetenieff in his ASP classed Tesla Model 3 Performance was able to fend off challenges from Jeremy and Shawn McNeely in SSM Miatas, taking top time of day.  These three were the only racers to get into the 46 second bracket.  Blake DeWit earned the top PAX spot in a Honda Accord and was 12th overall.  Class winners were Boris for Prepared, Blake for Street, Jerry Shaha for Touring in an STR Miata, and our fastest Novice was Austin Hunt in a Miata.

Sunday, the weather was a fickle beast, with all of Run Group 1 dry, and Run Group 2 going from slightly damp to completely soaked by the 4th run.  The timing equipment wasn’t able to deal with the downpour, so no one in the 2nd run group got a 4th time, though everyone went out for a splash run anyway.  We really appreciate everyone’s flexibility Sunday, and though we had to pick up in the rain, it went quickly with all of the help.  Jeremy McNeely brought out his stock Model 3 Performance and was the only competitor in the 47 second range, with Andrew Barbitta following 0.8 seconds behind in his STU WRX STI.  PAX went to Blake, who was 3rd overall.   Class winners included Andrew for Touring, Trever Gusaas for Prepared in a WRX STI, and the fastest Novice was Jeremiah Villafuerte in a Golf GTI.

We do it all again in two weeks, May 8th and 9th at the Shasta Speedway.  Registration will be open soon, and we hope you are planning to join us!
