Hello racers!  Northbay Corvettes has opened up registration for the next event in the 2022 Shasta AutoX Challenge Series at Thunderhill.  We would love to see all of our Club members and TTC guests join us for a fun weekend of autocross racing on the big pad!  

Please make plans to be there!  Register now to reserve your preferred run group, you can cancel up to two days before the event with no penalty.  Use MSR to register or to ask questions of the organizers.  Camping is available and can be paid for as part of your registration.

Rounds 5 & 6 of the Shasta AutoX Challenge Series will be held at Thunderhill Raceway on the big skid pad Saturday and Sunday June 4th & 5th.   We are partnering with the Northbay Corvette Association, who is organizing the event and collecting the monies.

– Registration will be on Motorsportsreg (MSR) and will open in about 3 weeks
– Sign up for morning or afternoon, run group assignments will happen at the event (ex. sign up for AM, you’ll either be racing in 1 or 2 and working the opposite group)- 4 run groups / 5 runs per group each day

– Cost is $55 for TTC members, $65 for guests, paid online via MSR
– Campers can enter the facility after 5:30pm on Friday.  There is a fee to camp.

– We are looking for support from our members to help with the event!  Plan to stay and help work in groups where you are not already racing/working, especially for Sunday afternoon

First off, some old business – there were changes to the results of the March enduro race weekend due to a protest of the PAX winning car.  The competitors worked it out and as a result, we have two new PAX winners from March!  Congratulations to Jake Stevens who got the PAX win for Saturday the 26th, and to Heinz Simoneit who won for Sunday the 27th!  

For the April race weekend, it was a sweeper both days for Top Time and PAX, with David Winterburn in the JBS Sports Racer taking the Top Time honors, and Boris Podtetenieff in the Tesla Model S Plaid taking PAX.   Jeremy managed to beat Shawn in the XP battle of the turbo’d Miatas by just .002 on Saturday, but gave it all back Sunday.  Thanks to everyone who made it out to race!

We hosted an enduro weekend for our autocross season kickoff this year, running the same track Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday doing 4 runs of 2 laps as practice, and Sunday one run of 5 laps for the enduro.  Both were points days for our Club members.  The track was very fast, the weather perfect, and we had a very smooth event.  Our thanks to everyone who made it out to race with us!

Saturday, David Winterburn got his JBS Sports Racer out for one squirrely run before suffering a mechanical failure – the one run was good enough to take the Top Time, with Danny Ide about a second behind in the Willys, followed by Shawn McNeely in his SSM Miata.  Sunday,  it was Shawn McNeely taking his first ever Top Time win, followed by Danny in 2nd, with Nate Woodmency in 3rd in his VLR Kart.  PAX both days went to Blake DeWit, who has returned to the helm of an ES Miata this year.  Eric Harris was the fastest novice both days in a Mini Cooper Clubman S that by the end of the weekend was missing most of its tread.  Everyone did a great job, we had a lot of novices out for their first time racing, and we all had a lot of fun.  Photos will be up on Facebook soon.

The start of the Shasta AutoX Challenge Series is this weekend, March 26th & 27th, at the Shasta Speedway in Anderson.  We are considering the weather and will confirm by Friday AM if we are doing an Enduro event or not.  If we do the Enduro course, it is two laps per run for practice on Saturday, and one 5 lap run of the same course on Sunday.  Otherwise, we’ll have a traditional autox weekend, 5 runs of one lap, with the course reversed on Sunday.  Both days are points events for Club members.
