Autocross Racing with the Trinity Touring Club Starts Jan 20th!

By | Uncategorized | No Comments
Happy New Year to our racers and race fans!  We are just 10 days away from our first autocross event of 2019 on Sunday, January 20th.  Pre-season racing (rain or shine) is your chance to blow the cobwebs out and do some test and tune work on your hot rod before our regular season begins in April.   Pre-season events are set for Sunday 01.20, 02.24, and 03.24 – set your reminders!

Fees are unchanged for 2019.  Club membership is $30 for individuals or $35 for couples.  Race Day entry fee is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.  Sponsorship levels are $200, $400, and $600.  You can bring your membership dues or Sponsorship to the next meeting, to the race in January, or mail it to the P.O. Box.

Our next Club meeting is on Tuesday, January 15th at Player’s Pizza in Anderson. Social hour 6-7 with meeting following. I will have 2019 membership forms at the meeting and will happily accept your money. Please join us for the meeting and help us finalize plans for the year.

We plan to meet at the track Saturday afternoon January 19th to do some trailer clean-up and get things ready for Sunday’s race. If you can make it out to the Speedway on the 19th (a week from this Saturday) around 2pm to help, we would appreciate it very much.  It looks like we are in a pattern of wet weather, so plan accordingly and keep an eye on the forecast.

See you soon!

Shasta AutoX Challenge Series – October + Season Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments
Our final race weekend went off without a hitch and had some very competitive racing.  Brian Nunes and Blake DeWit did a fabulous job with Race Director duties, we had a nice chili dinner with desserts Saturday night, and we had a couple of riders try out the go-kart on Sunday – it was a great way to cap off what has been an eventful season.
Saturday and Sunday was a hunt for the fastest time between Danny Ide and ‘Fast’ Larry Nelson, with Larry besting the field on Saturday, and Danny taking the trophy for Sunday.  Blake DeWit put a period on the PAX season with back to back PAX and ES class wins.  The complete race weekend results and year end results are now posted – http://www.trinitytouringclub.com/race-results/  Please let me know right away if you see anything amiss with the results.
We will be celebrating our season winners and electing our 2019 officers on Saturday, November 3rd at the Expressive Learning Center, 2655 Bechelli Lane in Redding.  I’ll be sending a follow-up to club members soon.  Our first pre-season race of 2019 is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 20th, rain or shine.
We are still looking for nominations for officers and board members so please reach out to me if you would like to help out next year – even if you weren’t a club member this year.
cheers!
– Brian

Go Fund Me for Bradley Smith

By | Uncategorized | No Comments
Brad is a new member of the Club this year – he started as a Novice, and has been working on sharpening his driving skills and improving his ’91 Miata this season.  He now competes in STR.  At an event earlier this year, he had some suspension voodoo happen, wrenched on the car, and got it back in the event for time.  Brad loves racing, but is on a shoe string budget, like many.
His friends have started a Go Fund Me campaign to help him recover from an accident at the track this weekend, where he was a passenger.  Please forward along to your contacts in the motorsports community or anyone who might be able to help.

Shasta AutoX Challenge Series – September Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments
Races #6 and #7 are in the books, and it was an eventful weekend to say the least.  We hosted 95 drivers, did a big spaghetti dinner Saturday night, raffled off a bunch of cool stuff, and exceeded our fundraising goal for the (say it with me) Shasta Regional Community Foundation’s Community Disaster Relief Fund.  The support from our club members, friends, and motorsports community was amazing!  Troy and I will be stopping in at the Foundation tomorrow to give them a check and to thank them for their efforts in rebuilding our community after this summer’s fires.

We had a lot of help and participation in this weekend’s events, but a big shout out goes to Jeremy and Kristie McNeely of Perry’s Automotive, who were instrumental in gathering donations for the raffle, and were a big part of Saturday’s dinner.  Thank-you to everyone who chipped in to make the fundraising efforts a success.

It was a sweep for Top of Day and PAX, with David Winterburn taking home Top Time in his JBS Sports Racer, and Blake DeWit continuing to beat us all silly for PAX in his ES Miata.  Full results can be found on the Trinity Touring Club website Results page.  Please let me know of any issues you see with the accuracy of the results.

Unfortunately, there was a racing accident during the final run group on Sunday, and one of our Club members was injured.  We are following up with those involved to see what we can do, and I will be sending a note shortly to ask, once again, for your generosity and support.
