Registration Open for May 8th & 9th + Rules Reminders

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The Shasta AutoX Challenge Series continues with rounds 3 & 4 Saturday and Sunday, May 8th and 9th (rain or shine).  Plan to join us and register online today!
Register online at MSR:

Saturday the 8th – msreg.com/ttc2021r3
Sunday the 9th – msreg.com/ttc2021r4

*** Rules Reminders ***

Novices:  Competitors can race as a Novice twice in our club, then must move to their car class.  As a Novice, you can ride with other racers before your race runs.  Once you’ve moved into a car class, you may no longer ride with others prior to racing.
Minors:  Any minor who is a participant or a rider must have a Minor Participation waiver completed at the registration table and witnessed by a TTC official.  Riders must be 12 years of age.  Minor competitors must have the legal right to drive on the street – if the competitor has a permit but no license, they must have an adult licensed driver ride with them (preferably their parent).
DNFs:  A ‘Did Not Finish’ penalty is most often incurred when you leave the course and do not reenter in the same spot, or if you miss the start or finish line.  There is no re-run for a DNF, and if you DNF for all of your runs, you do not get a time.  Be sure you are walking the course before the race, reviewing the map, and asking questions.  We hate DNFs and will do all we can to help you, but ultimately it is on the competitor to be able to complete the course.
Driver Swaps:  All drivers must be registered for the event.  If you have one car and two drivers, each driver must register independently as a competitor, pay the entry fee, complete the waivers, attend the Driver’s Meeting, etc.  It is against the rules to swap drivers during a run group so that your passenger can give it a go – you will be disqualified.
Fun Runs:  We often allow Fun Runs following the timed competition.  Only registered racers are eligible for Fun Runs.  We want everyone who races on the track to have attended our Driver’s Safety meeting and to have paid the entry fee for the event.
Payments:  Credit card charges are submitted the Monday following the event.  If the payment information you provided during registration is invalid, you will be notified by MSR to correct the payment method online.  This most often happens due to a change in address or a disused credit card that was saved as part of your MSR profile, and is not a big deal – it happens!  But you must correct the issue and be in good standing to register for future events with TTC.  If you need to arrange an alternate payment method, please let me know!
Any questions on these items or anything else, just reach out!

Season Opener – Race Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The Shasta AutoX Challenge Series kicked off with two days of racing at the Shasta Speedway this past weekend.  Results are posted to https://trinitytouringclub.com/race-results/

Saturday, Boris Podtetenieff in his ASP classed Tesla Model 3 Performance was able to fend off challenges from Jeremy and Shawn McNeely in SSM Miatas, taking top time of day.  These three were the only racers to get into the 46 second bracket.  Blake DeWit earned the top PAX spot in a Honda Accord and was 12th overall.  Class winners were Boris for Prepared, Blake for Street, Jerry Shaha for Touring in an STR Miata, and our fastest Novice was Austin Hunt in a Miata.

Sunday, the weather was a fickle beast, with all of Run Group 1 dry, and Run Group 2 going from slightly damp to completely soaked by the 4th run.  The timing equipment wasn’t able to deal with the downpour, so no one in the 2nd run group got a 4th time, though everyone went out for a splash run anyway.  We really appreciate everyone’s flexibility Sunday, and though we had to pick up in the rain, it went quickly with all of the help.  Jeremy McNeely brought out his stock Model 3 Performance and was the only competitor in the 47 second range, with Andrew Barbitta following 0.8 seconds behind in his STU WRX STI.  PAX went to Blake, who was 3rd overall.   Class winners included Andrew for Touring, Trever Gusaas for Prepared in a WRX STI, and the fastest Novice was Jeremiah Villafuerte in a Golf GTI.

We do it all again in two weeks, May 8th and 9th at the Shasta Speedway.  Registration will be open soon, and we hope you are planning to join us!

Pre-Season Race 4 & 5 Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

We appreciate everyone who made it out to pre-season racing with the Trinity Touring Club this year!  You can check out the results here https://trinitytouringclub.com/race-results/

Saturday, the fastest racer was Troy Dewell in his DP Miata, finishing 0.07 seconds ahead of 2nd place Rick Dunbar in the Suzuki Special.  The only other driver in the 42 second range was Blake DeWit, also in Troy’s DP Miata.  PAX went to Doug Juenke in a Honda Civic Type R.  Class winners were Troy for Prepared, Doug for Street, Andew Barbitta for Touring in a Subaru WRX STI, Brian Berry for Modified in a Ford Focus SVT, and though we technically did not have a Novice Class winner since there were just two racers, Quinn Hamilton did beat his Dad by a second in a BMW 328i.

Sunday, we had some technical glitches with the wireless timing equipment that took some time to sort out, but once we got going it was another fun day of fast racing, though a bit slower than Saturday.  Jeremy McNeely brought his Tesla Model 3 Performance and proceeded to do lap after lap that individually would have been enough for Top Time and PAX, but he stacked 4 of them up anyway (and did more during fun runs!).  Class winners included Jeremy for Street, Brian for Modified, Troy for Touring, Tim Hasick for Prepared in a Dodge Viper, and the fastest Novice was Austin Hunt in a Miata.

Our season starts next month, and we hope to see you at the track!

Pre-Season Race 2 & 3 Results

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Results are now available on the website – https://trinitytouringclub.com/race-results/

Saturday started with an untimed, non-competitive practice lap to splash out some of the puddles as we had clear skies but a wet track.  It was a fun way to start the day and gave our novices a little confidence they wouldn’t get lost later.  After our 5 competition runs, Top Time of the Day went to Maggie Elorza in a BMW M235i x-Drive, who was the only driver to get into the 48 second bracket.  PAX went to Blake DeWit in a Honda Accord.  Class winners included Maggie for Street, Garret Murphy for Touring in a 300ZX, Brian Berry for Modified in the fabulous Ford Focus SVT, and the fastest Novice was 16 year old Caitlyn Singler in a Subaru BRZ.

Sunday we had a dry track, sunny weather, and a full house, so we kept it to 4 competition runs.  Rick Dunbar was super fast in the Suzuki Special, scoring the only 44 second time and Top Time of Day.  PAX was a close battle with Blake earning the top spot, followed by Keith Smith and Maggie, both just over a tenth of a second behind Blake.  Class winners were Blake for Street, Andrew Barbitta in a Subaru WRX STI for Touring, Tim Hasick in a Dodge Viper for Prepared, and the fastest Novice was Frank Lewis in a Miata.

We have one more pre-season weekend coming up on March 13th & 14th, rain or shine.  Registration will be open on MSR soon, and our full season calendar will be available in the coming weeks.
