We had a blustery but sunny weekend of autocross racing at the Shasta Speedway, with Boris Podtetenieff in his Tesla Model 3 Performance and Troy Dewell in his DP Miata battling it out for top honors both days. Boris was able to fend off the challenge and scored a double double, winning Top Time and PAX for both days, with Troy in second. The margin of victory on Saturday was a mere 0.059, and Sunday was 0.223 – it was an exciting battle!
Class winners are determined by their PAX finish, and we group PAX classes together as follows: Street, Touring, Street Modified, Prepared, Modified, CAM, Novice – there must be at least 3 competitors in the group to have a winner. Saturday, it was Boris for Prepared and Heinz Simoneit in a CIVIC SI for Touring, no other PAX group had the minimum number of racers. Sunday, Boris and Heinz repeated their class wins, and the fastest Novice was Kevin Van De Mark in a Mustang GT.
Our next event is at Thunderhill June 5th and 6th. The event is run by the Northbay Corvette Club and sign ups are done on MSR – sign up now!
